Ayodhya is entering a new phase of religious and tourism development. After the construction of the Ram Temple, the number of devotees visiting the city has increased rapidly. Keeping this in mind, the administration has started preparing a large-scale development plan for the Saryu ghats. On the lines of Kashi, Ayodhya will soon host a grand evening Saryu Aarti at the riverfront. Along with this, the government has accelerated work on an ambitious barrage project to maintain adequate water levels in the Saryu River throughout the year.
Proposal Sent to the Government
The administration has already sent the proposal for barrage construction and ghat development to the government. Officials from different departments are coordinating to speed up the project. Authorities believe the barrage will ensure enough water remains at the ghats in every season. This will improve facilities for devotees and tourists while also enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of the riverfront.
NOC Process Underway With Centre
District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi said the process of getting No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Central Government is currently underway. Once the approval comes through, the administration will move quickly on technical and administrative processes. Officials see the project as an important step in strengthening Ayodhya’s religious and cultural identity.
Grand Evening Saryu Aarti to Become a Major Attraction
The administration plans to organise a regular grand Saryu Aarti on the ghats every evening. At present, Aarti takes place at the Saryu River, but low water levels often reduce the visual impact of the ceremony. Officials believe the barrage will help maintain a stable water level, making the evening Aarti look more divine and visually grand. The administration expects the event to emerge as a major attraction for pilgrims and tourists.
Ayodhya Moving Towards Global Religious Tourism Status
After the inauguration of the Ram Temple, Ayodhya has rapidly emerged as one of India’s biggest religious destinations. The government now aims to develop the city into a world-class spiritual tourism hub. The project also includes beautification of the ghats, improved lighting, stronger security arrangements and better tourist facilities.
Officials believe that once the project is completed, devotees visiting Ayodhya will experience a spiritual atmosphere similar to Kashi. The Saryu riverfront is expected to become a major centre for religious events and tourism activities in the coming years.
