Noida Aqua Line Expansion Moves Ahead as L&T Wins Contract; Construction Likely Within a Month

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has selected Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to build two new extensions of the Aqua Line, a project that will improve connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport.

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has awarded the contract for the Aqua Line expansion to Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Nine companies participated in the financial bidding process, which concluded on Wednesday. After two rounds of re-tendering, NMRC has finally selected the construction company.

NMRC Managing Director Krishna Karunesh said the entire project will use elevated tracks. L&T will carry out the construction, while NMRC will supervise the work.

Construction Expected Within a Month

According to media reports, construction could begin within a month. The project faced delays because NMRC had to reissue the tender twice. With the contractor now in place, officials expect work to start soon.

The biggest benefit of the project will be a direct metro connection between Delhi and Greater Noida.

At present, passengers travelling from Delhi take the Blue Line or Magenta Line to Botanical Garden. They then travel to Noida Sector-52 Metro Station, walk or take an e-rickshaw to Sector-51 Metro Station, and finally board the Aqua Line for Greater Noida.

The new extension will remove this interchange hassle. Commuters will be able to travel directly from Botanical Garden to Sector-142 on the Aqua Line.

Two New Metro Routes Approved

The first extension will connect Botanical Garden to Sector-142. The route will cover 12.5 kilometres and cost ₹2,254.35 crore. It will include stations at Botanical Garden, Sector-44, Noida Office Sector-94, Sector-97, Sector-105, Sector-108, Sector-93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College before reaching Sector-142.

The second extension will connect the Greater Noida Depot to Bodaki. This route will stretch 2.6 kilometres and cost ₹416 crore.

Better Connectivity for Noida and Jewar Airport

The Aqua Line expansion forms part of Uttar Pradesh’s larger plan to improve transport links in the Noida-Greater Noida region after the launch of the upcoming Jewar International Airport. The new routes will make daily travel easier for commuters and strengthen metro connectivity across the region.
