UP CM Yogi launched a sharp attack on the opposition on Sunday (July 5), accusing some political parties of ignoring India’s faith and cultural values while opposing the BJP. He claimed that those who supported the Babri structure, alleged “land jihad” and “love jihad” had little concern for the country’s religious sentiments.
Yogi said political opposition was part of democracy, but alleged that some parties had crossed the line by opposing issues linked to national interest and public faith. He claimed that in their attempt to oppose the BJP, some leaders had started opposing India itself.
Highlights Ayodhya and Kashi Transformation
The Chief Minister also highlighted the transformation of Ayodhya and Kashi under the BJP government. He said few people had imagined that the Kashi Vishwanath Dham would take its present form. He added that the development of the Ram Temple and the wider Ayodhya city had changed the region and reminded visitors of the era described in the Ramayana.
Yogi credited PM Modi’s leadership and the government’s commitment for these projects.
Attacks Previous Governments on Law and Order
Turning to law and order, Yogi alleged that governments before 2017 protected mafia networks and allowed criminals to operate across Uttar Pradesh. He claimed illegal weapons and bombs were manufactured in several districts during that period.
He said his government had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards organised crime and strengthened law enforcement across the state.
Stresses National Security and Defence
Yogi said national security remained one of the country’s top priorities. He pointed to India’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities and cited the production of BrahMos missiles as an example of the country’s push towards self-reliance in defence.
He said the government continued to work on development, security and the protection of India’s cultural heritage. His remarks triggered fresh political discussion in Uttar Pradesh.
