A woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district has accused her husband of assaulting her, giving her triple talaq, and forcing her to undergo nikah halala. She also alleged that her husband’s elder brother raped her in the name of halala.
In her complaint, the woman said she married Nadeem around a year ago. She alleged that her family gave dowry, including household items, furniture, a motorcycle, jewellery and Rs 2 lakh in cash. Despite this, she claimed her in-laws remained dissatisfied and subjected her to physical and mental harassment.
The woman said that on the night of May 19, her husband allegedly beat her with kicks and punches, causing severe pain at the site of a previous surgery. She said that while she was in pain, Nadeem pronounced “talaq” three times and asked her to leave the house.
Forced Halala, Rape Allegation and Police Action
The next day, she approached the police to file a complaint. However, she alleged that her husband and his family persuaded her to return home by promising that he would marry her again.
According to the complaint, before the proposed remarriage on May 30, Nadeem allegedly told her that she first had to undergo nikah halala with his elder brother, Wasim. She said she opposed the demand, but alleged that Wasim later raped her in the name of halala.
The woman also said that her in-laws stopped her from informing her family, confined her inside the house and assaulted her whenever she tried to leave.

She said she finally managed to contact her relatives, after which her sister-in-law came and took her away. She further alleged that despite approaching the police again, no case was registered initially. An FIR was filed only after she complained to the Superintendent of Police in Bijnor.
Based on her complaint, police registered one case against Nadeem and a separate rape case against Wasim. The FIR also names Wasim’s wife, Nagma, for allegedly helping the accused.
