SP MLA’s House Attacked in Amethi, Internal Power Struggle Exposes Deep Rift Over Ticket and Caste Politics in SP

The group reportedly came in two Scorpio SUVs and several motorcycles. They allegedly surrounded the house, shouted abuses, and threatened the family with serious consequences.

On Tuesday (May 26) night, A political controversy has exploded in Amethi after supporters and local leaders of the Samajwadi Party allegedly attacked the residence of party MLA Maharaji Devi. The incident has raised questions about the opposition party at a time when its top leadership is aggressively targeting the BJP government over the alleged oppression of PDA communities -backward classes, Dalits, and minorities.

According to the complaint filed with the police, more than two dozen men arrived at the MLA’s residence in the Awas Vikas Colony area between 8 pm and 8:30 pm. The group reportedly came in two Scorpio SUVs and several motorcycles. They allegedly surrounded the house, shouted abuses, and threatened the family with serious consequences.

Family members claimed the attackers used abusive language and created panic outside the residence. When they tried to record the incident on their mobile phones, the accused allegedly assaulted them and snatched a phone. The incident left the family terrified and triggered tension in the area.

Complaint Given At the Local Police Station

After the clash, Maharaji Devi’s son, Anurag Prajapati, filed a written complaint at the local police station. He named several influential SP leaders in the FIR, including Sher Bahadur Yadav, Brijesh Yadav, Jai Singh Pratap Yadav, Balram Yadav, Anurag Yadav, Manu Pal, Vipin Yadav, Rajesh Yadav, and Shubham Yadav. Police have started legal proceedings and are investigating the matter.

Anurag Prajapati also appealed to Yogi Adityanath for justice and security. At the same time, he wrote to Akhilesh Yadav and demanded strict action against those involved.

Local people believe the violence goes far beyond a social media argument between supporters of the two camps. They say the real fight centres on political control and caste dominance in Amethi. Discontent reportedly started when the SP leadership gave the election ticket to Maharaji Devi, wife of former minister Gayatri Prajapati. A section of local Yadav leaders opposed the decision and felt the seat should remain with a Yadav candidate. Political rivalry and factional tension eventually exploded into open conflict.
