Lucknow Fire: Old Building Records Show Akhilesh Government Approved the Building Construction

Records also indicate that the development authority initiated legal action in 2016 over allegations of unauthorised construction during Akhilesh Yadav's rule. A demolition order followed on May 10, 2016.

The fire incident in Lucknow has left several families devastated. Reports indicate that people lost their lives, while many others suffered injuries and property damage. However, Akhilesh Yadav seems to have crossed every line. It is deeply unfortunate that he chose to play politics even over such a sensitive incident in Lucknow.

On the other hand, CM Yogi cut short his visit to Aligarh as soon as he received information about the incident and rushed to Lucknow. He issued strict instructions to officials to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured and take strong action against those responsible. As a result, the police arrested the accused within 24 hours.

Questions Over the Building’s History

Information released by authorities shows that the building originally received approval for residential use in August 2014 during Samajwadi Party government and Akhilesh Yadav was the CM at that time. The structure covered an area of 1,992 square feet.

Records also indicate that the development authority initiated legal action in 2016 over allegations of unauthorised construction during Akhilesh Yadav’s rule. A demolition order followed on May 10, 2016. However, that order was later cancelled on July 5, 2016, in the Samajwadi government.

Officials have also said that the property changed ownership multiple times over the years. These developments have triggered fresh questions about monitoring, enforcement, and compliance with building regulations.

Government Response After the Fire

While CM Yogi closely monitored the situation after reports of the fire emerged. According to officials, he cut short his engagement in Aligarh and reached Lucknow to review relief and rescue operations.

The Yogi government asked authorities to ensure treatment for the injured and provide assistance to affected families. Police teams started investigations and began examining possible violations connected to the building.

Officials have also indicated that several individuals remain under scrutiny as investigators work to determine responsibility.

Political Reactions Draw Attention

After the incident, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav started politicising it despite the building being givenclearance in his own government.

Also SP has politicised a sensitive incident before the investigation reaches its conclusion. The immediate focus should remain on relief efforts, treatment of victims, and identification of those responsible.

Focus Remains on the Investigation

As investigators continue their work, the priority remains establishing the exact cause of the fire and determining whether any violations contributed to the disaster. Authorities will also examine past records, approvals, and enforcement actions connected to the building.

For the affected families, political arguments matter less than accountability. The outcome of the investigation will determine whether lapses occurred and who must answer for them. Until then, the tragedy remains both a human loss and a test of administrative accountability.
