The Yogi Adityanath government has transformed UP into the country’s largest electronics manufacturing hub. Strong industrial policies, major investments, and global companies have helped the state lead India’s electronics and smartphone production.
UP Becomes India’s Largest Electronics Hub
Under CM Yogi Adityanath, UP has become India’s biggest electronics manufacturing center. The state has moved far beyond its earlier limited presence in the sector and now plays a key role in the global electronics supply chain.
Today, UP produces nearly 65% of all mobile phones made in India. It also manufactures around 55% of the country’s electronics components, making it the leading state in electronics production.
Noida and Greater Noida have driven this growth by creating a strong industrial ecosystem that attracts global manufacturers and suppliers.
Global Brands Expand Manufacturing in UP
Several leading international and Indian companies now manufacture electronics in UP.
Global brands such as Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, and LG continue to expand their production facilities in the state. Indian electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies, along with Optiemus, Padget Electronics, Zetwerk, and Bhagwati Products (Micromax), assemble mobile phones and manufacture components for domestic and global markets.
Component manufacturers, including Samkwang, Holitech, KHY, Kwatek, Sunwoda, and Dreamtech, produce PCB assemblies, capacitors, and display components. Consumer electronics companies Haier and Panasonic also operate large manufacturing facilities in the state.
Industrial Policies Bring ₹28,000 Crore Investment
The state’s Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2017, revised in 2020 and 2022, along with the UP Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025, has attracted significant investment.
More than 75 companies have invested over ₹28,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh under these policies.
The state has also secured ₹32,146 crore in approved semiconductor investments. One of the biggest projects is the HCL-Foxconn Display Driver Chip Plant, which will come up near Noida International Airport in Jewar. The project aims to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
Smartphone Exports Reach Record High
Uttar Pradesh has also recorded sharp growth in electronics exports.
During the 2024-25 financial year, smartphone exports from the state reached $17.5 billion (around ₹1.45 lakh crore). The figure represents a major share of India’s total electronics exports.
The state has more than 24 crore smartphone users and over 1.85 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs), creating a strong digital ecosystem.
Government Focuses on AI and Advanced Technologies
The Yogi government now aims to expand investment in next-generation technologies. It is promoting sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, drones, automation, and advanced electronics to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a global manufacturing destination.
Officials believe these initiatives will create more jobs, attract fresh investments, and help the state play a bigger role in India’s technology and manufacturing growth.
