The Noida Authority is planning to set up a ‘Tree Court’ on the lines of Bengaluru to create a dedicated marketplace for buying and selling plants. The facility will work like a shopping mall’s food court, but it will bring together different nurseries under one roof. The project will also help the authority use vacant space in its three horticulture nurseries.
High-Quality Indoor and Outdoor Plants at One Place
The new Tree Court will make it easier for residents to buy high-quality indoor and outdoor plants from a single location. At present, the Noida Authority grows around 150 varieties of plants in its nurseries and earns revenue through plant sales.
Under the new system, nurseries from across the city will bring their developed plants to the Tree Court for sale, giving buyers more choices.
Nursery Operators to Join Through Escrow Accounts
The authority will provide nursery operators with a new platform to sell plants. It will also fix the selling price of plants.
Every plant will have a barcode, and all nursery operators will connect through an escrow account. The system will record every sale through barcode scanning, making it easier to calculate sales and distribute payments between both parties.
Project Aims to Improve Plant Availability
The Noida Authority says this initiative is unique for Uttar Pradesh and the NCR region. The project will focus on plant development, sales, and maintenance under one system.
Officials believe the initiative will support environmental conservation while ensuring that residents get better-quality plants.
Authority Begins Work on Bengaluru-Style Model
The Horticulture Department recently gave a presentation on the project before Noida Authority CEO Krishna Kumar. The presentation highlighted the environmental benefits of producing high-quality plants and creating a better sales system.
The CEO has directed the department to begin detailed work on the project. Officials said the authority plans to develop a plant sales system similar to Bengaluru’s famous Lalbagh nursery model.
Three Nurseries Identified for the Project
The Noida Authority has identified three nurseries for the Tree Court project. At the Sector 8 nursery, which covers 5 acres, the authority will use 1 acre for the Tree Court, while the remaining 4 acres will continue for other horticulture activities. At the Sector 32 nursery, spread over 2.5 acres, 1 acre has been earmarked for the project, and 1.5 acres will remain available for other uses. Similarly, at the Sector 39 nursery, 1 acre of the total 2.5-acre area will be used for the Tree Court, while the remaining 1.5 acres will continue to be used for horticulture work.
