Uttar Pradesh is facing intense heatwave, and regular power cuts have added another layer of problems to the people.
After growing complaints over electricity disruptions, UP CM Yogi Adityanath directed power officials to ensure uninterrupted supply during peak summer conditions.
After CM’s instruction, a review meeting was held by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). It has instructed strict monitoring of electricity distribution. UPPCL Chairman said officials to ensure 24-hour electricity supply in urban areas and at least 18 hours in rural regions.
Officials also started special inspection drives in areas where electricity demand rises sharply at night. The corporation asked teams to respond quickly to complaints registered on the 1912 electricity helpline. Senior officers now monitor the situation late into the night to prevent breakdowns and reduce outages.
Lucknow Gets Special Monitoring Teams
UP government has taken extra measures in Lucknow, after reapeated reports of power cuts. Madhyanchal DISCOM Managing Director Riya Kejriwal said authorities put 22 senior officials across different parts of the city to maintain uninterrupted supply during peak hours.

According to officials, superintending and executive engineers will remain on duty from 9 PM to 1 AM every day until May 31. Authorities also given the names and contact numbers of all officers appointed to different areas. The administration asked engineers to resolve complaints immediately and restore supply without delay.
Two Engineers Suspended Over Lapses
The power department has also begun disciplinary action against officials accused of negligence. Authorities suspended Rahul, Executive Engineer of Transmission in Ghaziabad, and attached him to the Meerut headquarters. Officials also suspended Yogesh Kumar, Executive Engineer of Transmission in Meerut.
Meanwhile, Westanchal Vidyut Distribution Corporation Managing Director Ravish Gupta issued strict directions to officials across 14 districts, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad and Rampur.
He ordered officers to restore electricity immediately after any breakdown or disruption. Gupta warned that authorities would fix accountability in cases of negligence or delay. He also instructed officials to ensure staff availability and adequate repair material at power stations so teams can quickly handle technical faults and restore normal supply.
With temperatures continuing to soar across Uttar Pradesh, the state government now faces mounting pressure to keep electricity supply stable and prevent further public anger during the summer peak.
