On Sunday (May 10), the Yogi government is expected to induct 5 to 6 new ministers. CM Yogi Adityanath met Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday (May 9) evening and handed over the names of probable ministers. New ministers are expected to take oath at 3:30 pm.
The party wants this expansion to underline that the government, the organisation and the central leadership remain in sync. Instead of any sign of instability, the BJP is presenting the reshuffle as evidence of coordination and political confidence.
For the party leadership, the timing is important. The expansion comes soon after the BJP’s major political momentum in Bengal, where the party believes it has boosted its ground under the broader national leadership narrative.
Focus Shifts to Mandate and Momentum
The cabinet expansion is being read as an attempt to convert recent political momentum into administrative and electoral energy.

New Faces, Wider Social Reach
Sources say the names of several leaders have been discussed for inclusion. Among those seen as likely are Manoj Pandey, Pooja Pal, former state BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Surendra Diler and Krishna Paswan.
The likely inclusion of new faces is also aimed at broadening political outreach across regions and communities. Party leaders believe cabinet expansion remains one of the strongest tools to energise the organisation at the ground level.
A Show of Leadership Before 2027
At present, including the CM, the UP cabinet has 54 ministers. Six more ministers can still be added under the constitutional limit.
For the BJP, Sunday’s expansion is not just about filling vacant slots. It is being framed as a political statement.
After the Bengal result, the party wants to project that under Yogi Adityanath, the BJP is preparing to enter the next phase of politics in UP with renewed confidence.
