Under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, UP has achieved another major milestone in making education transparent, modern, and student-centric. As part of the Digital India mission, the state has secured the top position in the country in creating APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) IDs for both school and higher education. This achievement has strengthened Uttar Pradesh’s position as India’s leading hub for digital education reforms.

Uttar Pradesh Leads with Record APAAR ID Numbers

According to the latest figures released by the department, UP created a record 7,320,603 APAAR IDs in the higher education category, the highest in the country. Maharashtra ranked second, while Rajasthan secured the third position.

The state also retained its lead in school education. UP generated 29,590,359 APAAR IDs, placing it ahead of every other state. Maharashtra finished second, while Bihar ranked third. These numbers highlight the rapid implementation of digital education initiatives under the Yogi government.

What Is APAAR ID and How Will Students Benefit?

APAAR ID serves as a lifelong digital academic identity for every student. It stores all academic records, including marksheets, degrees, diplomas, transcripts, and certificates, on one secure digital platform.

The system will make it easier for students to change schools or colleges, apply for higher education, receive scholarships, and complete employment-related verification. Students will no longer need to manage multiple physical academic documents, as they can access their records digitally whenever required.

Government Sets July 2026 Deadline for Digital Records

The state government has also accelerated the next phase of the project. During a recent high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, officials reviewed the progress and issued fresh directions.

The government instructed institutions to upload all academic documents for the 2025 academic session to the National Academic Depository (NAD) and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platforms by July 2026. It also fixed a strict six-month timeline for uploading documents after every examination and evaluation. Departments will follow a dedicated internal monitoring system to ensure timely compliance across institutions.

Yogi Government Advances the Goals of NEP 2020

CM Yogi Adityanath aims to connect every student in UP with a permanent digital academic identity. The initiative closely follows the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes a transparent, technology-driven education system.

The new system will help curb the use of fake academic documents and strengthen the credibility of students’ educational records. It will also allow students from Uttar Pradesh to carry a trusted digital academic profile throughout their education and future careers.
