Ram Temple Sadhu Murdered in Unnao’s Bangarmau; Israel Named as Main Accused, Authorities Launch Bulldozer Action

According to family members, the dispute started after some people objected to sound being played at the under-construction temple and got it stopped. The family said that a muslim youth Israel, along with his four friends, took the sadhu with them and attacked him with knives and other sharp weapons.

On Tuesday (June 9), a 60-year-old sadhu, Ramdas alias Milan Das, who was overseeing the construction of a Ram Temple in Ghure Tola locality under the Bangarmau Kotwali area of Unnao, was allegedly killed after being attacked with sharp weapons.

According to family members, the dispute started after some people objected to sound being played at the under-construction temple and got it stopped. The family said that a muslim youth Israel, along with his four friends , took the sadhu with them and attacked him with knives and other sharp weapons.

Victim Succumbed to Injuries at Hospital

According to the victim’s brother Virendra Singh and relative Shivdevi, Israel attacked the sadhu, causing serious injuries to his back.

Local residents rushed the injured sadhu to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bangarmau. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Body Buried Near Temple Under Heavy Security

Following the murder, tension spread across the area. Considering the situation, the district administration and heavy police force supervised the burial of the sadhu’s body near the temple premises. Authorities said that a memorial (samadhi) will be constructed at the burial site.

Bulldozer Action Against Illegal Structure Linked to Case

Before the victim’s body reached the village after the post-mortem, the tehsil and police administration jointly carried out a major action.

Officials demolished a hut allegedly built through illegal encroachment on Bangarmau Municipal Council land. According to the investigation, the murder was committed inside this structure, and the accused muslim youth frequently gathered there before the incident. The demolished structure was linked to local councillor Atiq Ahmad.

Three Accused Arrested, Councillor Detained for Questioning

Police have arrested three accused so far, including the main accused, Israel. Although local councillor Atiq Ahmad was not named among the five accused mentioned in the case, police consider him a key suspect. He has been taken into custody and is being questioned regarding the incident.

Security arrangements have been tightened across the area, and police personnel from several police stations have been deployed to maintain law and order.

BJP MLA Assures Strict Action

After receiving information about the murder, BJP MLA from Bangarmau, Srikant Katiyar, reached the spot and met the victim’s family members and local residents.

He assured them that strict action would be taken against those responsible and stated that such incidents would not be tolerated under the Yogi Adityanath government.

Circle Officer (CO) Santosh Singh said that the post-mortem has been completed and further legal action is being takenin the case.
