After the defeat of Mamata Banerjee in the recent West Bengal election, Akhilesh Yadav has announced that he will visit West Bengal and meet her. He said he wants to extend support to the Trinamool Congress chief at a politically sensitive moment.
The announcement has triggered a sharp reaction from UP minister Om Prakash Rajbhar. Taking a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, Rajbhar said Mamata Banerjee had waited for him during the election campaign, hoping he would come and campaign for her. But he never went. Now, Rajbhar asked, what is the purpose of visiting after the results are out?
Rajbhar mocked Akhilesh’s political style and said the Samajwadi Party leader avoids intense campaigning. He said the present summer heat is too harsh and questioned how Akhilesh would manage rallies and roadshows. Rajbhar added that even waking up early for campaign work would be difficult for him.
Rajbhar Says Bengal Visit Is About 2027 Politics
Rajbhar said Akhilesh Yadav’s easiest political activity is posting a tweet in the afternoon. According to him, that is one thing Akhilesh can do regularly without fail.
Continuing his attack, Rajbhar said Akhilesh is now going to Bengal because there is no campaign left. He said Akhilesh can now sit comfortably in air-conditioning, console Mamata Banerjee, and remind her to support him in UP the way she did in the previous election.
Rajbhar also claimed the Bengal visit carries a political message for UP. He said Akhilesh wants to build a narrative around electronic voting machines. According to Rajbhar, this is part of a larger strategy for the 2027 UP Assembly election. He alleged that Akhilesh wants to blame EVMs in advance if the SP loses.
Using a sharp political line, Rajbhar said political heirs should remember that people now hold the real power. He said voters have already made it clear that no throne remains permanent when public mood changes.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee said Akhilesh Yadav will meet her on Wednesday (May 6) in West Bengal. She also said other leaders of the INDI alliance are expected to visit. However, she did not reveal the alliance’s future strategy.
