The long-delayed Sports City project in Noida has finally picked up pace. After the Supreme Court’s directions, the Noida Authority has started speeding up development work in Sports City at Sector 150.
As part of the project, the authority is preparing a plan to build a world-class international stadium that will become the centrepiece of the entire Sports City.
International Stadium Gets Top Priority
The Noida Authority has recently approved the layout plan for SC-2 Sports City, while the layout for SC-1 is in its final stage. The revised plan reserves enough land for sports facilities and gives top priority to the international stadium.
The proposed stadium will include a cricket ground, football field, athletics track, indoor multipurpose sports complex, Olympic-size swimming pool, gymnasium, sports science and fitness centre, modern training facilities for athletes, VIP lounge, digital scoreboard, floodlights and a large parking area.
Designed for Multiple Sporting Events
Officials will design the stadium to host training camps for different sports at the same time. It will also have the capacity to host national and international tournaments. The project is expected to open the door for major sporting events in Noida.

Supreme Court Order Speeds Up Project
Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh said the authority has accelerated work on pending Sports City issues after the Supreme Court’s directions. The authority will now move ahead with the project in phases so that the long-pending development can take shape on the ground.
Officials believe the international stadium will transform Sector 150 into more than just a residential area. They say the project will help Noida build a strong identity as a major sports hub on the national and international stage.
