The Yogi government has approved a ₹44 crore redevelopment project for the famous Maa Kali Khoh Temple in Mirzapur, one of the three sacred shrines in the renowned Vindhyavasini Trikon Parikrama. After the success of the Vindhya Corridor, the state will now develop the Kali Khoh Temple on similar lines. The government has already released the first instalment of ₹15 crore, paving the way for work to begin soon.
The Public Works Department (PWD) prepared the proposal nearly a year ago and sent it to the state government for approval. With the project now cleared and funds released, officials have started the tender process. Construction will begin once the tender formalities are complete. The redevelopment aims to improve facilities for the lakhs of devotees who visit the shrine every year while preserving its spiritual significance.
Marble Plaza, Better Roads and Parikrama Path Planned
The redevelopment plan will follow the model of the Vindhyavasini Temple Corridor. Authorities will not make any changes to the main temple structure. Instead, they will build a well-planned parikrama path around the temple and develop a marble plaza to improve the pilgrim experience.
The project also includes the widening and improvement of roads leading to the temple. Officials expect the upgraded infrastructure to make travel easier and ensure better crowd management during festivals and peak pilgrimage seasons.

Temple Holds Deep Religious Significance
The Kali Khoh Temple attracts between 5,000 and 10,000 devotees every day. It forms an important part of the sacred Trikon Parikrama of Maa Vindhyavasini. According to local belief, Goddess Mahakali took her Khechari Mudra form and resided at this spot after slaying the demon Raktabeej.
Devotees believe that prayers at the temple remove suffering and bring blessings. The Trikon Parikrama of Maa Vindhyavasini remains incomplete without offering prayers at Kali Khoh Temple. After the approval of the ropeway project, the state has now cleared the temple’s redevelopment plan as well. Once completed, the project will give the shrine a grand new look while improving facilities for pilgrims from across India and abroad.
