A serious event has surfaced at the PM SHRI government school in Jalab Sarai, located in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. Two Muslim teachers allegedly ran religious activities inside the school and pressured Hindu girl students to wear hijab. The accused teachers, Anjar Ahmad and Mohammad Gul Ejaz, also allegedly made students perform sajda and asked boys to come to school wearing Islamic caps.

The matter came to light after a video, reportedly showing these activities, went viral. After the video surfaced, District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal ordered immediate action. Authorities suspended both teachers along with the acting principal. Police also registered a case against the accused teachers at Nakhasa Police Station under relevant sections of the BNS.

Hijab Pressure and Religious Influence in School

According to the inquiry report, teachers Anjar Ahmad and Mohammad Gul Ejaz had been promoting religious practices in the school for several months. Officials said these activities had continued since February. The report says the teachers made children recite Islamic prayers inside the school premises.

It also states that they pressured Hindu girl students to wear hijab and perform sajda. Students also told officials that the accused teachers encouraged them to wear Islamic caps while attending classes.

The inquiry also found that some remarks insulting other religions were allegedly made inside the school. This created an atmosphere of religious tension and discomfort among students. Officials treated the matter seriously because the school is a government institution meant for children from all communities.

Administration Suspends Three School Staff

After the allegations surfaced, District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal directed the Assistant Basic Education Officer to conduct an inquiry. During the investigation, several students confirmed that Islamic activities had been taking place inside the school for quite some time.

Based on the report, Basic Education Officer Alka Sharma suspended the two main accused teachers. Authorities also suspended acting principal Balesh Kumar. Officials said he knew about these activities but failed to inform senior authorities. They also accused him of negligence in supervising the school.

FIR Registered, Committee Formed for Wider Probe

The administration has now started legal proceedings in the case. On the complaint of the Block Education Officer, police registered an FIR against the two teachers under Sections 353(2) and 61(2) of the BNS.

District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal also formed a three-member inquiry committee headed by the Chief Development Officer. The committee will investigate whether more people were involved in what officials described as a religious agenda inside the school.

The district administration has issued a strong warning. Officials said they will not spare anyone who compromises the educational environment.

Earlier Incident Raises More Questions

This is not the first such controversy in Sambhal. On February 6, Quranic verses were reportedly found written inside a school in Nagla Purva village of Chandausi Tehsil. At that time, Vishwa Hindu Parishad accused officials of promoting “education jihad” and staged protests. That incident also led to action against school staff.

In the latest case, the viral video and photographs have once again raised serious questions about how such activities continued inside a government school for months without immediate intervention.
