UP Police Crack Down: Encounters in Multiple Districts, 9 Criminals Including Rewarded Accused Arrested, Jewellery and Weapons Recovered

Another major encounter took place near Nahar Kothi in the Ataria police station area of Sitapur. A joint team of the Special Operations Group and local police intercepted two wanted criminals.

On Sunday (May 10), police continued their crackdown on criminals across Uttar Pradesh as separate encounters took place in Hardoi, Sitapur, Meerut, Azamgarh and Pratapgarh. In these operations, police arrested several wanted criminals linked to theft, firing, rape and ATM fraud cases.

Many accused suffered bullet injuries during the encounters. Police also recovered illegal weapons, stolen jewellery, cash and vehicles from their possession.

Two Thieves Held in Hardoi

In Hardoi district, police clashed with two criminals in the Pihani police station area. Officers said both men had links to several theft cases in the region and had remained on the run for some time.

During the encounter, both accused suffered injuries. Police arrested them and sent them to the hospital for treatment.

From their possession, police recovered a stolen motorcycle, jewellery worth several lakh rupees, an illegal country-made pistol and cartridges. Officers said they were investigating whether the two men had links to other recent theft cases in nearby areas.

Rs 50,000 Reward Criminals Injured in Sitapur

Another major encounter took place near Nahar Kothi in the Ataria police station area of Sitapur. A joint team of the Special Operations Group and local police intercepted two wanted criminals.

Several rounds of firing took place during the operation. Police injured Mohammad Farid and Baijnath, both carrying rewards of Rs 50,000 each.

Police said both accused faced several theft cases and had remained wanted for a long period.

Officers recovered yellow metal jewellery worth around Rs 7 lakh, a motorcycle, two country-made pistols, four empty shells, three live cartridges and cash. Police identified the two accused as residents of Sidhauli and Sandana police station areas.

Meerut Encounter After Road Firing Case

In Meerut, police confronted criminals near Kashiram Colony in the Lohiyanagar police station area.

During the exchange of fire, the police injured notorious criminal Aman Oberoi. Officers also arrested his associate, Naveen Upadhyay.

Police said both men had cases against them for firing on the road to spread panic and for other serious offences. After retaliatory firing, police surrounded the accused and caught them.

Rape Accused Opens Fire in Azamgarh

In Azamgarh, police searched for rape accused Nakhdu, also known as Sahab, in the Tahbarpur police station area.

As police closed in, the accused opened fire on the team. Police responded immediately. A bullet hit the accused in the leg. Officers then took him into custody and admitted him to hospital.

Police have started further legal action in the case.

ATM Fraudsters Arrested in Pratapgarh

In Pratapgarh, Dilippur police and a special team arrested two accused involved in ATM card fraud.

The encounter took place near Shivsat bridge. Police injured Mohammad Aftab and Naushad in the legs before arresting them.

According to police, both accused cheated people by swapping ATM cards and withdrawing money from bank accounts in states including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Police recovered Rs 11,000 in cash, six ATM cards, an Aadhaar card, a pistol and cartridges. Officers said Mohammad Aftab faces four criminal cases, including robbery, theft and attempted murder. Naushad faces one criminal case.
