Lucknow has seen several criminal incidents in the past few days. In response, the police launched a strong crackdown and took action against several accused persons. The latest news include police encounters, arrests of criminals, and administrative action against police officers.
Molestation and Attempt-to-Murder Accused Injured in Encounter
On Sunday (May 31) morning, police arrested Sunny Yadav, who faces charges of molestation and attempt to murder. The encounter took place in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow.
Police received information about the accused and surrounded him. When officers tried to stop him, Sunny opened fire. One bullet hit the official vehicle of the Vikas Nagar Station House Officer. Police then fired in self-defense. A bullet struck Sunny in his right leg.
After the encounter, police took him into custody and admitted him to a hospital for treatment. Officers also recovered a country-made pistol and cartridges from the spot.

Two Snatchers Arrested in Krishna Nagar Encounter
In another incident, police and criminals exchanged fire in the Krishna Nagar area late at night. Two people arrested, they were identified as Rohan alias Guddu and Sahil, both residents of New Delhi.
Police show a motorcycle without a number plate during a vehicle-checking drive. When officers asked the riders to stop, they opened fire and tried to escape. Police replied and shot both accused in the leg.
During questioning, the accused admitted their involvement in recent crimes, including chain snatching from a woman and robbery from a cigarette company salesman. Police recovered the stolen chain, stolen cigarette stock, two pistols, cartridges, and a Pulsar motorcycle. Doctors admitted both injured accused to a hospital.
Action in Shivam Singh Murder Case
The state government also took action in the murder case of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Shivam Singh. Authorities removed ACP Vinay Dwivedi and Inspector Amar Singh from their posts in connection with the case.
CM Yogi Reviews Law and Order Situation
CM Yogi Adityanath held a video conference with senior police and administrative officials after several major criminal incidents across UP.
The meeting included the DGP, ADG Law and Order, police commissioners, range IGs, DIGs, and ADGs from different zones. Officials from districts that recently witnessed serious crimes also joined the discussion.
CM expressed concern over incidents in districts such as Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Pilibhit, and Baghpat. He directed officials to take strict steps to control crime and maintain law and order. This was his fourth review meeting with police officers in the last ten days.
