Under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, UP is witnessing a strong cultural and religious revival. The state government has focused on preserving India’s spiritual heritage while creating modern infrastructure that attracts tourists from across the world. From the transformation of pilgrimage centers to the development of new cultural sites, the government continues to strengthen UP’s identity as the spiritual heart of India.
In this direction, Varanasi is preparing for another important project. The city will soon get a world-class Shiva Theme Park that will feature a 130-foot-tall Shivling, making it the tallest Shivling in the world.
A New Landmark in Kashi
Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, continues to create new idenity while preserving its rich heritage. Earlier, the city entered the record books by developing a dense urban forest along the banks of the Ganga with over 2.5 lakh plants spread across 350 bighas of land.
Now, authorities plan to develop a Shiva Theme Park over 20 acres in the heart of the city. The park’s main attraction will be the massive 130-foot Shivling, which will become a major symbol of faith and devotion. Its height will make it visible from many parts of the city and attract visitors from across the country.
₹104-Crore Integrated Development Project
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation has come up with an ambitious plan to develop the Jal Kal campus in Bhelupur as the Kashi Integrated Centre and Community Park. The entire project will cover around 20 acres and combine modern facilities with cultural heritage.
The project carries an estimated cost of ₹104 crore. Authorities will implement it in phases. In the first phase, they will spend around ₹45 crore on development works. The civic body has already sent the proposal to the state government for approval.
Modern Facilities with Cultural Identity
The park will offer several modern facilities for visitors. It will include a 1,000-meter jogging track, a 300-meter elevated pathway, and a grand open museum. Heritage buildings and three large ponds within the campus will add to its beauty and cultural appeal.
A one-megawatt solar power plant will supply green energy to the project and support the state’s sustainability goals.
Honouring India’s Great Personalities
The Shiva Theme Park will not only celebrate spirituality but also honour India’s distinguished personalities. The park will dedicate special spaces to Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awardees, including eminent personalities from Kashi.
Visitors will learn about their achievements, life journeys, and contributions to the nation through informative displays and exhibitions. The project aims to create a place where people can enjoy nature while also gaining inspiration from India’s cultural and intellectual legacy.
Set to Become the World’s Tallest Shivling
At present, the India Book of Records recognizes the 111.2-foot Shivling at the Maheswaram Sri Shiva-Parvathi Temple in Chenkal, Kerala, as the world’s tallest Shivling. The famous Shivling at Kotilingeshwara Temple in Karnataka stands at 108 feet.
Once completed, the 130-foot Shivling in Varanasi will surpass both structures and establish a new global record.
Strengthening Kashi’s Global Identity
The Shiva Theme Park will emerge as a major religious, cultural, and tourism destination. The project shows the broader vision of the Yogi government to revive India’s spiritual traditions while building modern public spaces. As Varanasi continues its transformation, this new landmark will further strengthen the city’s position as one of the world’s most important centers of faith, culture, and heritage.
