The Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up its industrial expansion plans as projects worth ₹6 lakh crore are now ready for groundbreaking. Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ reviewed the state’s investment progress and preparations for the upcoming Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 5 during a meeting at PICUP Bhawan on Friday.
Officials told the minister that investments worth ₹6 lakh crore have already reached the implementation stage. They also expect this figure to rise to ₹8 lakh crore soon.
550 New Industrial Units to Come Up in Three Months
The government plans to set up 550 new industrial units across the state over the next three months. This includes 50 units with investments of ₹500 crore each and 500 units with investments of ₹100 crore each.
The government believes these projects will strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s journey towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
Textile and Footwear Sectors Get Special Focus
The state will give special attention to the textile and footwear industries. The government aims to create more local jobs through these sectors and reduce the migration of skilled workers to other states.
Higher Growth Target for 2026-27
Officials informed the minister that Uttar Pradesh had set a Gross Value Added (GVA) target of ₹5 lakh crore for FY 2025-26. The state achieved ₹3.61 lakh crore during the year.
For FY 2026-27, the government has raised the GVA target to ₹5.25 lakh crore.
The state also aims to establish 4,500 factories during the current financial year. By July 20, authorities had already recorded 1,017 new industrial units.
Land Bank Expands to Support Industries
The review meeting also covered land availability for industries. Officials said authorities cancelled the allotment of 514 industrial plots because the allottees did not set up factories. They have already reallotted 95 plots, while 419 plots remain available for new investors.
Officials also shared updates on land banks managed by UPIDA, BIDA, UPSIDA, YEIDA and other industrial development authorities. During FY 2025-26, these agencies acquired 15,610 acres of land and developed 10,678 acres. They allotted 2,671 acres to industrial units.

New Factory and Investment Targets
For FY 2026-27, the state has set a target to bring 1,591 new factories under the Factories Act. Officials also plan to issue 15 Letters of Comfort (LoCs) every month to support fresh industrial investments.
The government expects these measures to accelerate industrial growth, attract more investors, and create large-scale employment opportunities across Uttar Pradesh.
