Police in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, arrested a man accused of raping a minor girl within 24 hours of the complaint. The swift action followed directions from senior police officers.

Family Filed a Complaint at Nanauta Police Station
According to police, the victim’s family submitted a complaint at Nanauta Police Station on June 21, 2026. They accused Vicky alias Vikas Rana of raping a minor girl. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections and started an investigation immediately.
Senior Superintendent of Police Saharanpur treated the matter seriously and ordered the immediate arrest of the accused. Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (Rural) and the Circle Officer of Gangoh, a police team began searching for the suspect.
Accused Arrested from Sanjay Chowk
The police team continued its operation and arrested Vicky alias Vikas Rana from Sanjay Chowk in Nanauta on Monday. Officers also questioned him after the arrest.
Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO Act
Police said the accused is a resident of Bhari village in the Nanauta area. They registered a case against him under Sections 65(1) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5L and 6 of the POCSO Act.
Police have completed the required legal formalities and started the process of producing the accused before a court. The investigation is still underway. Officials said they are taking strict action in crimes against minors and will ensure punishment for those found guilty under the law.
