Dalmia Bharat Limited has started commercial production at its newly acquired cement grinding plant in Chunar, Uttar Pradesh. The plant, operated by the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), began operations on June 20, 2026.
The Chunar facility has a cement grinding capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The company said the plant will help increase production, strengthen its presence in eastern and northern India, and meet the growing demand for cement.
The start of production marks an important step in Dalmia Bharat’s expansion plans. The company recently acquired the plant and moved quickly to make it operational. The additional capacity is expected to support future growth and improve supply across key markets.
The development also reflects UP’s emergence as a major destination for industrial investment. Under the CM Yogi government, the state has introduced investor-friendly policies, improved infrastructure, and simplified business procedures. These measures have encouraged companies across sectors to expand operations and set up new manufacturing facilities in the state.

Officials have repeatedly highlighted the government’s focus on industrial growth, ease of doing business, and job creation. The launch of production at the Chunar plant adds to the list of industrial projects taking shape in UP.
Dalmia Bharat had earlier informed stock exchanges about the acquisition and readiness of the facility through regulatory filings made in May 2026.
