On Monday (May 11), Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath addressed the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Where he presented UP as one of India’s fastest-growing economic and manufacturing centres.
He said strong manufacturing capability remains the foundation of any nation’s economic strength.
Speaking at the summit, CM Yogi said entrepreneurship and industrial growth not only boost economic development but also create large-scale employment opportunities for youth. He added that the “New Uttar Pradesh” has transformed itself through better infrastructure, improved connectivity, and an investor-friendly environment.
UP Moves from “Bottom Three” to “Top Three” Economy
The Chief Minister claimed that before 2017, UP was counted among the bottom three state economies in the country. Today, according to him, the state stands among India’s top three economies.
He said UP has received investment proposals worth nearly ₹50 lakh crore in recent years. He also highlighted the rapid industrial expansion under his government.
“More than 18,000 large industries have been established in Uttar Pradesh during the last nine years. Around 96 lakh MSME units have also been set up,” he said.
According to CM Yogi, the MSME sector alone currently provides employment to nearly 3 crore young people across the state. He described MSMEs as the backbone of UP’s economic growth model.
Focus on Law and Order
A major part of the Chief Minister’s speech focused on law and order. He said a secure environment is the first requirement for any state or nation that wants economic growth and investment.
“Today no trader or entrepreneur in UP pays ‘goonda tax’,” he stated.
The Chief Minister distinguished the current situation with the period before 2017. He claimed that the state earlier witnessed more than 300 riots annually, averaging almost one riot every day. According to him, strong governance and strict action against crime have improved investor confidence and trust in the state.
Manufacturing Seen as Key to India’s Future
CM Yogi stressed that manufacturing strength decides how fast a country progresses economically. He said nations with strong industrial capacity move ahead with greater stability and confidence.
He also connected economic power with national strength. During his address, he said only a capable and powerful society can effectively promote values like compassion and harmony.
The Chief Minister’s speech at the summit reflected the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued focus on industrialisation, infrastructure expansion, and employment generation ahead of its long-term economic goals.
Industry leaders, business representatives, and policymakers attended the CII Annual Business Summit 2026, where discussions focused on manufacturing growth, investment opportunities, and India’s future economic roadmap.
