Uttar Pradesh continued its push for transparent and cheating-free recruitment examinations as authorities caught 15 impersonators on the first day of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. This shows the Yogi government’s commitment to fair examination by using all means.
At a time when paper leaks and exam fraud have raised concerns across several parts of India, UP has adopted a zero-tolerance approach. The state government has repeatedly stressed that recruitment and eligibility examinations must remain fair, transparent, and merit-based.
15 Fake Candidates Detected Through AI Monitoring
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission conducted the first day of UPTET 2026 on July 2 in two shifts. The morning session ran from 9:30 am to 12 noon and the afternoon session took place from 2:30 pm to 5 pm.
During the examination, the AI surveillance system caught several suspicious candidates. After verification, officials identified seven impersonators in the first shift and eight in the second shift. Authorities handed all 15 accused over to local police and initiated legal action against them.
The swift detection of the impersonators demonstrated the effectiveness of the technology-driven monitoring system introduced for the examination.
AI Cameras and Centralised Monitoring Strengthen Security
The commission deployed AI-enabled cameras at all examination centres across the state. Officials monitored candidate activities in real time through an AI-integrated Command and Control Centre set up at the commission headquarters in Prayagraj.
Commission Chairman Dr. Prashant Kumar, along with senior officials, supervised live feeds from all 955 examination centres. The system allowed authorities to identify unusual patterns and immediately verify suspicious cases.
Biometric Verification Helps Prevent Fraud
Multiple layers of varification was there at centres just to identify fake and proxy candidates. Officials checked identity documents, conducted biometric authentication, and used data analysis tools before allowing candidates to appear for the test. These helped authorities identify candidates attempting to write the examination on behalf of others.
Strong Attendance Across the State
UPTET 2026 is taking place from July 2 to July 4 in five shifts. The examination covers 955 centres across 60 districts and has attracted nearly 1.99 million registered candidates.
On day one, a total 807,636 candidates registered for both shifts. 684,614 appeared for the examination. In which,Female attendance stood at 84.69%, while male attendance reached 84.86%.

A Model for Exam Reforms
The Yogi government is very serious about paper leaks and fraud in public exams. CM Yogi understands that lakhs of students’ future depends on these examinations and a small mistake may cause them heavy loss. Hence, through strict laws against paper leaks, enhanced digital monitoring, biometric verification, and AI-based surveillance, the state has sought to restore public confidence in competitive examinations.
Officials say UPTET 2026 has so far remained orderly, transparent, and free from major irregularities. As several states continue to grapple with examination-related controversies, UP’s technology-backed approach is increasingly emerging as a model for conducting fair and credible examinations.
