CM Yogi distributed appointment letters to newly selected cooperative and panchayat audit department employees at Lok Bhavan on Monday (May 5). He used the occasion to highlight how UP has changed since 2017.
Yogi said that before 2017, the state’s economic condition was terrible. Banks refused to give loans to the government, and the treasury sat empty. He added that no bank chairman or CMD was willing to even pick up his phone calls back then. Today, the state runs a revenue surplus and maintains strong financial discipline.
He pointed out that the difference between UP before and after 2017 is visible to everyone. Rule of law and security are now the government’s top priorities. He warned that without financial discipline, the state would never have escaped its image as a sick and backward region.
Ganga Expressway Built Without a Single Bank Loan
CM Yogi highlighted the Ganga Expressway project as a major achievement. The 594-kilometer expressway cost over 36,000 crore rupees. The government completed it without borrowing from any bank. He said big banks often offer to fund large projects, but UP moved ahead through transparent financial management. He also mentioned that the project created an industrial and logistics hub, acquiring 7,000 acres of land in the process.
Speaking about the new appointments, Yogi said around 500 young candidates received posting letters. He took a dig at previous governments, citing the Lucknow JNPAS center, which had an initial budget of 200 crore rupees but ended up costing 860 crore rupees.
Yogi also praised the selection process, saying that even the Finance Minister did not know in advance who would get selected from his district — proof that the system now works without bias or favoritism.
