Uttar Pradesh will welcome one of its biggest Japanese business delegations next month as more than 200 CEOs from Japan, including companies from Yamanashi Prefecture, arrive in the state on August 19 for a five-day investment programme. The visit aims to strengthen economic ties between UP and Japan while opening new opportunities for industrial collaboration across several high-growth sectors.
Focus on Manufacturing, Green Energy and New Industries
The visiting business leaders will explore investment opportunities in manufacturing, renewable energy, green hydrogen, automobiles, food processing, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), tourism and skill development. The programme also seeks to deepen technology partnerships and workforce cooperation between Japanese companies and UP.
Preparations Underway Ahead of the Visit
Before the August programme, a 12-member delegation from Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture visited Lucknow to finalise the schedule and business engagement plan. Narendra Upadhyay, Advisor to the Yamanashi Prefectural Government, led the delegation. Officials from Invest UP and senior state government representatives reviewed the proposed meetings and discussed ways to ensure productive business interactions. The initiative builds on CM Yogi’s recent visit to Japan, where he invited Japanese companies to invest in UP.
Government and Industry Meetings Planned
The five-day programme will include a series of Government-to-Business (G2B) and Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings. Senior officials, industry leaders and Japanese companies will discuss investment opportunities in manufacturing, clean energy, automotive production, green hydrogen, food processing, GCCs and skill development. The meetings will also focus on strengthening long-term industrial and technology partnerships.
Fresh Investment Deals Expected
State officials expect the visit to result in several new investment agreements. The programme may conclude with the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), the issuance of Letters of Comfort (LoCs) and land allotments for proposed industrial projects. These agreements could further accelerate UP’s efforts to attract global investment and expand its industrial base.
Tourism and Cultural Cooperation Also on the Agenda
Along with investment discussions, the Japanese delegation met UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh to explore stronger cooperation in tourism and cultural exchange. Both sides discussed tourism infrastructure, better connectivity, heritage conservation and investment opportunities in hospitality and wellness tourism. The talks reflected a broader effort to deepen economic as well as cultural ties between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.
