On Friday(21 June), the Yogi government informed that the state’s total exports to BRICS member and partner countries crossed $5.36 billion during the financial year 2025-26. It reflects that Uttar Pradesh has strengthened trade, technology and investment ties with BRICS nations.
UP Exports Machinery, Garments and Leather Goods to BRICS Nations
Speaking at the BRICS MSME Forum in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said the state exports machinery, garments, leather products, carpets and precious stones to several countries.
A state government statement said Uttar Pradesh exported goods worth about USD 3.938 billion to BRICS member nations. Exports to BRICS partner countries reached USD 1.429 billion.
Representatives from BRICS countries and MSME officials attended the three-day forum in Agra.
MSME Sector Drives Employment and Growth
Chaudhary said Uttar Pradesh’s MSME sector has become a key driver of employment, innovation and economic growth. Around 96 lakh MSME units currently operate in the state and provide jobs to nearly 1.65 crore people.
ODOP Connects Local Products to Global Markets
The minister said the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme has helped local entrepreneurs and traditional artisans reach global markets.
According to the statement, the government has provided around Rs 897 crore in margin money assistance to more than 20,000 beneficiaries under the scheme. The initiative has also created about 3.16 lakh employment opportunities.
Support for Traditional Artisans
Chaudhary highlighted the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, under which more than 4.41 lakh traditional artisans have received modern toolkits and skill training.
Focus on Youth Entrepreneurship
The state government said it launched the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign to promote self-employment among young people. The scheme offers interest-free, collateral-free loans and aims to help establish 10 lakh new micro enterprises over the next 10 years.
MSME Parks Under Development
The government also said it is developing MSME parks under the PLEDGE scheme to strengthen the industrial ecosystem. Authorities have already approved parks in 12 districts across the state.
