Official government data exposes a massive gap between Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav’s development slogans and his actual ground reality. The Lok Sabha MP from Kannauj faces intense criticism over the gross underutilization of his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds.
Huge Funds Sit Idle
The Union Government allocated ₹14.70 crore to Akhilesh Yadav for local development in Kannauj during the 18th Lok Sabha. However, the official MPLADS portal reveals that the SP chief spent a meagre ₹2.51 crore out of this total amount. This leaves over ₹12 crore completely unused while the voters of Kannauj await basic infrastructure improvements.
Recommended Works On Paper Only
Yadav’s development track record shows a deep administrative failure. The MP recommended 218 projects for his constituency, but the local administration approved only 94 of them. Shockingly, workers completed just six projects out of those 94 approved tasks. This slow pace raises serious questions about his commitment to his voters.
Zero Transparency On Completed Work
The official records reveal deeper irregularities regarding the six completed projects. The government spent ₹18 lakh on these works, which allegedly included five streetlights. However, the MPLADS portal contains physical work evidence and phase-wise photographs for only one single project. The remaining five projects have no public records, no photographic proof, and no field verification data. This directly violates the mandatory MPLADS rules, which require clear digital evidence for every single expense.
Political Backlash Over PDA Promises
This poor performance has triggered a severe political backlash against the SP chief. State Minister and SBSP Chief Om Prakash Rajbhar launched a fierce attack on Yadav. Rajbhar accused him of betraying his own “PDA” (Backwards, Dalits, and Minorities) formula. Critics point out that grassroots party workers sweat on the ground, but their leader maintains total silence on actual development.
Where Is The Accountability?
During his tenure as Chief Minister, Yadav aggressively campaigned with the slogan “Kaam Bolta Hai” (Work Speaks For Itself). Today, the people of Kannauj ask why his development work has fallen silent. Public funds demand absolute accountability and cannot remain locked in bank accounts while villages lack basic amenities. Akhilesh Yadav must answer why his constituency is starving for development despite having crores in available funds.
