The Yogi Government Launches’ Sambhav 6.0′ to Strengthen Nutrition Support for Mothers and Children

-

The Yogi government in UP has launched another major campaign to fight maternal and child malnutrition across the state. Under the guidance of CM Yogi, the Department of Child Development and Nutrition has started the statewide ‘Sambhav 6.0’ campaign. The mission began in Lucknow and focuses on the theme “Nutrition Security from Pregnancy to Early Childhood.”

The campaign aims to provide continuous health and nutrition support to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and newborn babies. Officials plan to follow a life-cycle approach so that families receive care from pregnancy until the child’s early years.

Strong Monitoring System to Track Progress

The government has put in place a strict monitoring system to ensure that the campaign delivers real results. Officials will prepare a weekly report card to track progress on the ground. From July to September 2026, the state headquarters will hold review meetings with District Programme Officers every fifteen days. These reviews will help officials identify challenges and improve implementation.

Multiple Departments Join Hands

For the first time, several departments and agencies have come together under a single plan. The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), the Health Department, the Panchayati Raj Department, and UNICEF are working together to carry out the campaign.

ICDS and health officials will organise special nutrition classes across the state. These sessions will educate families about balanced diets, newborn care, and maternal health. The government has also sent customised micro-plans to all districts and divisions. Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers are receiving special training to improve outreach and service delivery.

Independent Evaluation to Ensure Transparency

One of the key features of Sambhav 6.0 is its focus on transparency. The Planning Department will arrange an independent third-party evaluation to verify the campaign’s progress and results.

District Nutrition Committee meetings in July 2026 will formally launch activities in all districts. The government plans to conduct the first major assessment of the campaign during the last week of October 2026.

Harshita Mathur, Director of the Department of Child Development and Nutrition and the State Nutrition Mission, said the campaign follows a life-cycle approach. She said the goal is not only to reduce malnutrition figures but also to build a strong and healthy future for every child from the very beginning of life.
