Namo Bharat Rail to Link Ghaziabad With Jewar Airport; DPR Work Begins

People travelling to the Noida International Airport may soon get a faster public transport option as the proposed Namo Bharat corridor between Ghaziabad and Jewar has entered the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage.

Speaking to PTI, NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel said the Ghaziabad-Jewar corridor, along with the Noida-Faridabad-Gurgaon corridor, has reached the DPR stage. He said authorities have started detailed planning before moving towards construction.

More Namo Bharat Corridors Move Ahead

Goel said the Centre is likely to approve two other priority Namo Bharat corridors soon. These include the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal route and the Delhi-SNB-Alwar route.

He said officials have already started groundwork for these projects. Teams are carrying out geotechnical surveys, mapping underground utilities, and planning the relocation of power lines and water pipelines. These steps aim to reduce delays once construction starts.

Growing Focus on Regional Connectivity

Goel said several states are studying similar regional rapid transit systems to meet rising transport demand and support fast-growing cities.

He also referred to the latest Economic Survey, which highlighted the possibility of developing nearly 2,900 kilometres of Namo Bharat corridors across India. According to him, these networks can improve regional connectivity and support urban growth.

Route to Connect Airport and Key Growth Centres

Officials said the Ghaziabad-Jewar corridor will begin at Ghaziabad and pass through Noida, Greater Noida and YEIDA City before reaching the Noida International Airport at Jewar.

The route will connect several fast-growing residential, commercial and industrial areas. It will also improve access to the upcoming airport.

12 Stations Planned on the Corridor

The proposed corridor will have 12 stations and two depots at both ends of the route. Officials said the design will support smooth train operations and handle increasing passenger traffic across the NCR.

The stations will include Ghaziabad, Ghaziabad South, Greater Noida West-Sector IV, Greater Noida West-Sector II, Knowledge Park V, Surajpur, Pari Chowk, Ecotech VI, Dankaur, YEIDA North-Sector 18, YEIDA Central-Sector 21 and Jewar Airport.

The YEIDA Central-Sector 21 station will also offer connectivity to the upcoming Noida Film City.

Travel Time to Drop to Around 40 Minutes

The trains will run at a maximum operational speed of 180 kmph. Officials expect the corridor to reduce travel time between Ghaziabad, Noida and Jewar Airport to around 40 to 50 minutes.

Passengers will also get easy access through the existing Delhi Metro network. They can reach the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station using the Red Line Metro and continue their journey on the regional rapid transit system, creating a smooth link between Delhi and the airport corridor.
