The Lakhan Army has announced a march to Kasmandi (Kansa Pasi) Fort in Lucknow on Saturday (August 1). The organisation’s founder, Suraj Pasi, said members will perform a purification ritual at the Shiv temple inside the fort using soil from 108 villages and Gangajal.
The announcement comes amid the group’s demand for the immediate arrest of a Maulana accused of converting children from the Nat community in Malihabad. Suraj Pasi claimed that the police have not taken action despite receiving a complaint.
He also appealed to BJP, Samajwadi Party, and other MLAs to raise the issue in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He warned that if political leaders do not support the cause, the Pasi community will launch a village-to-village campaign against them.
What Is Lakhan Army?
Suraj Pasi founded the Lakhan Army on February 27, 2023. He first launched it as the “Lakhan Ekta Mission” before giving it its current name.
The organisation says it works for the Pasi community and focuses on Gen-Z youth. It claims to guide young people away from drugs, alcohol, and crime. The group also says it works at the grassroots level to prevent religious conversions among Dalit and backward communities.
According to the organisation, it has an active presence in all 75 districts of UP. It also claims to be expanding rapidly in Bihar and Jharkhand.
March to Kasmandi Fort
Suraj Pasi announced a major programme at Kasmandi Fort to preserve the community’s heritage.
Under the plan, members will offer sacred soil collected from 108 villages at the ancient Shiv temple inside the Kansa Pasi Fort. They will also perform a Jalabhishek and sprinkle Gangajal to purify the temple and the fort.
Suraj Pasi has submitted a formal memorandum to the Lucknow District Magistrate seeking permission for the event.
Organisation Raises Alleged Conversion Issue
The Lakhan Army has also intensified its campaign over the alleged religious conversion of children from the Nat community.
Suraj Pasi accused a cleric in Malihabad of carrying out the alleged conversions. He said the organisation filed a complaint at the local police station, but authorities have not taken concrete action so far.
The organisation has demanded the cleric’s immediate arrest and warned that it will continue its protest until authorities act on the case.
