The controversy around Rampur’s Jauhar University is once again making headlines. According to a News18 Local ground report, several families living along the road leading to Jauhar University have spent nearly two decades struggling with a problem that began during the road’s construction.
Homes Left Without Direct Access
Residents say that when the road to Jauhar University was built during the Samajwadi Party government, authorities constructed a wall nearly 3 to 3.5 feet high in front of several houses. The wall blocked the main entrances of many homes.
Even today, many families have to climb over the wall every time they leave or enter their houses. Residents say they have raised the issue several times over the years, but they have not received a solution.
Elderly Residents Face Daily Hardship
Around 70-year-old Murti Devi says crossing the wall every day has become a painful routine. She says she has slipped and fallen several times, suffering injuries.
She says she fears another fall every time she steps out of her house. She also questions why the entrance to her home was blocked and why the problem remains unresolved after so many years.
Farmers Say Daily Life Has Become Difficult
Local resident Raju says the wall was built in front of their homes while the university road was under construction. He claims residents complained to officials at the time, but no action followed.
According to him, dozens of families in the area face the same problem. Most of them depend on farming. They struggle to take tractors and other vehicles to their fields and often have to park them far from their homes.
School Also Affected by the Road Project
The issue has also affected Krishna Kabir Junior High School, located on the same road. Principal Ajay Diwakar says the school has been operating since 1998.
He says two to four classrooms came under the road project during construction. The wall also blocked the school’s main entrance. Despite repeated complaints, the issue remained unresolved.
According to the principal, the school had to remain closed for nearly four years because of the situation. Around 280 students now study there up to Class 8, but the access problem has still not been fully resolved.
Long-Standing Issue Returns to Spotlight
The renewed attention on Jauhar University has also brought focus to the problems faced by people living near the campus. As per the News18 Local report, residents say they have lived with this issue for almost 20 years and continue to wait for a permanent solution.
