A major case has erupted in Mirzapur after police uncovered what they described as a “Gym Jihad” operation. Police have booked 10 gym owners under the Gangster Act and taken them into custody. The investigation says the accused targeted women through gyms and allegedly used manipulation, blackmail, and pressure for conversion to Islam.

Women Allegedly Trapped Through Fitness Training
According to police, the accused used gyms as a way to approach women who came for fitness training. Investigators claim the women were emotionally manipulated after regular interaction with trainers and gym operators.
Police allege that some women faced pressure to convert to Islam. According to reports, the accused secretly recorded objectionable photos and videos to blackmail victims and extort money. Some women were allegedly pushed toward illegal activities as well. Women were also touched inappropriately during the teaching steps of exercise.
Complaints From Victims Exposed the Racket
The case came to light after several women approached police and filed complaints. During the investigation, officers reportedly found evidence supporting the allegations. Police claim that more than 50 women may have become victims of the network, which is a high in number.
Police Name Imran Khan as Alleged Kingpin
Mirzapur ASP City Nitesh Singh said police have already filed a chargesheet against the accused. Authorities identified Imran Khan as the alleged mastermind of the operation.
Police registered the original case on January 19 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Uttar Pradesh anti-conversion law, and the IT Act. Investigators later added charges under the Gangster Act after gathering more evidence.
Authorities Prepare Property Seizure
Police have now started identifying properties allegedly acquired through illegal activities. Officials say authorities may seize those assets under the Gangster Act if the investigation confirms unlawful earnings.

The case has triggered strong reactions in the area. The term “Gym Jihad” has now become a major topic of discussion on social media and in local communities. Police say the investigation remains active and more action could follow in the coming days.
