The death of Aban Ahmad, the youngest son of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad, has revived questions about two of the most wanted faces linked to the family. As preparations begin for Aban’s funeral, many are asking whether his mother, fugitive Shaista Parveen, will come forward to bid her son a final goodbye. Another question surrounds Guddu Muslim, a close aide of Atiq Ahmad, who has remained on the run since the Umesh Pal murder case.

Aban Ahmad Dies in Road Accident

Aban Ahmad died in a road accident while travelling to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmad, who is lodged in jail. According to reports, Aban was travelling with his friends to Jhansi Jail when their car crashed into a divider on a highway in the Poonch police station area of Jhansi district.

The collision left the front portion of the car badly damaged. Two people lost their lives in the accident, while three others suffered serious injuries. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted the injured to a hospital for treatment.

Atiq Ahmad’s Family

Atiq Ahmad had five sons -Umar Ahmad, Ali Ahmad, Asad Ahmad, Ahzam Ahmad and Aban Ahmad.

Umar Ahmad, the eldest son, remains lodged in Lucknow Jail. Ali Ahmad is in Naini Central Jail. Asad Ahmad died in a police encounter in Jhansi on April 13, 2023. Ahzam Ahmad, who was a minor at the time of his arrest, stayed in a juvenile home before authorities released him. Aban Ahmad was the youngest among the five brothers.

Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were shot dead on April 15, 2023, in Prayagraj while police were taking them for a medical examination. The attackers opened fire in front of media cameras during the police escort.

Where Is Shaista Parveen?

Shaista Parveen, the wife of Atiq Ahmad, has remained absconding for more than three years. Police have also failed to trace Ashraf Ahmad’s wife, Zainab Fatima, and the brothers’ elder sister, Ayesha Noori.

Investigators accuse all three women of involvement in the conspiracy behind the high-profile Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj in February 2023. In that attack, lawyer Umesh Pal and his two government security personnel, Sandeep Nishad and Raghvendra Singh, were shot dead. The attackers also used country-made bombs during the assault. Since then, Shaista Parveen has not appeared in public.

Will Shaista Attend Her Son’s Last Rites?

Aban Ahmad’s death has triggered speculation over whether Shaista Parveen will attend her youngest son’s funeral. She did not appear at the funeral of her husband Atiq Ahmad after his killing in 2023. Many believe she may again stay away because of the fear of arrest.

Security agencies are likely to remain alert during the funeral in case she or any wanted associate attempts to appear.

Eyes Also on Fugitive Guddu Muslim

Another name drawing attention is Guddu Muslim, a close aide of Atiq Ahmad who has remained on the run since the Umesh Pal murder case. Many are watching to see whether he attends Aban Ahmad’s funeral.

Guddu Muslim entered the crime world during his school years. He later became associated with several notorious criminals. According to investigators, he developed a reputation for carrying out crimes and disappearing without leaving easy clues.

His family reportedly tried to keep him away from crime and even sent him to Lucknow for studies. There, he came into contact with several influential criminal figures. Police identify Guddu Muslim as a key member of the Atiq Ahmad gang and accuse him of throwing bombs during the Umesh Pal murder. He has remained absconding ever since.
