Lucknow Police has stepped up security arrangements ahead of the Chehlum procession, which will begin on August 4. The procession will start from Nazim Shah Imambara and conclude at Talkatora Karbala. Officials expect a crowd of around 40,000 to 50,000 people. To manage the gathering and maintain law and order, the police have turned the city’s western zone into a high-security area.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar said the police have divided the entire western zone into five zones and 18 sectors to ensure smooth security management. Senior officers will supervise the arrangements throughout the event.
Heavy Police Deployment Across the Procession Route
The police have deployed 10 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and paramilitary forces. Additional police personnel will also remain on duty throughout the procession.
Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Police Response Vehicles (PRVs), Dial-112 units, and cluster mobile teams will patrol the area continuously. The administration aims to respond quickly to any emergency and keep traffic and public movement under control.
Drone Surveillance and Rooftop Security in Sensitive Areas
Lucknow Police has increased surveillance along the entire procession route. Officers have already carried out flag marches and route marches in sensitive locations to strengthen public confidence.
Armed police personnel will remain stationed on rooftops of high-rise buildings and houses located along the route. The police will also monitor the area round the clock through drones and CCTV cameras to keep a close watch on every movement.
Police Warn Against Rumours on Social Media
JCP Babloo Kumar said a dedicated police team will monitor social media platforms 24 hours a day during the Chehlum procession. The team will track rumours, misinformation, and inflammatory content.
He warned that anyone who tries to spread rumours or post provocative content on social media will face immediate and strict legal action. The police have urged people to cooperate with the administration and rely only on verified information during the procession.
