The Uttar Pradesh government’s Centre of Excellence at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Balika Vidyalaya in Marihan, Mirzapur, has once again delivered impressive results in national entrance exams. The Centre, run by the Department of Social Welfare, helped 18 students qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and 13 students clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) this year.
According to the state government, the Centre provides free, high-quality coaching to students from economically weaker and socially disadvantaged families. It has an intake capacity of 40 students and offers experienced faculty, regular test series, personal mentoring, modern study material, and a competitive learning environment.
The government said these efforts have led to consistent improvements in academic performance. Last year, 11 students qualified NEET and another 11 cleared JEE. This year’s results show further progress.
NEET Toppers Lead the Way
Among the NEET qualifiers, Pooja Ranjan secured the highest score with 413 marks. Shweta Pal followed with 372 marks, while Khushboo scored 359. Other successful candidates include Laxmi Rawat (344), Malti (343), Ankita (304), Anita (296), Manisha (263), Premlata (255), Ankita Kumari (248), Komal (244), Sapna (239), Anshika (231), Priyanka (230), Phool Kumari (221), Anuradha (192), Khushi (182), and Anchal (181).
The government said these students overcame financial hardships and stayed focused on their goals despite limited resources.
Strong Performance in Engineering Entrance Exams
The Centre also recorded encouraging results in engineering entrance examinations. Thirteen students qualified for JEE Main this year. Top performers included Damini Patel, Anwala Verma, Srishti, Shivani, and Ragni from Marihan.
Preeti qualified for JEE Advanced, adding another achievement to the institution’s record. Both Preeti and Damini also secured admission to the Integrated BBA-MBA programme at IIT Mandi.
Other successful JEE candidates include Vikas Yadav and Ankit Singh from Mehrauna in Deoria, Abhishek Mishra from Tirgaon in Barabanki, Amit Kumar from Jogiyatappa Bhanpur in Basti, and Rishikesh Bharti from Parsiya in Mirzapur.
Education Driving Social Change
The state government said most of the successful students come from poor and socially disadvantaged families. Many could not afford expensive private coaching, making the Centre an important support system for their education.
Officials described the students’ success as more than academic achievement. They said it reflects determination, hard work, and the power of quality education to change lives.
The Centre of Excellence is part of the UP Department of Social Welfare’s wider education initiative. The department runs 103 Sarvodaya Schools across the state. These schools provide free residential education along with personality development, career guidance, and coaching for competitive examinations.
The government said its goal is to ensure that no deserving student misses educational opportunities because of financial constraints.
