The Yogi government has stepped up transport arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra by deploying additional UPSRTC buses, opening dedicated control rooms, and preparing special traffic plans to ensure a smooth journey for lakhs of Shiva devotees travelling to Haridwar and other pilgrimage centres. The move aims to reduce travel disruptions during one of the country’s biggest annual religious pilgrimages.
Extra Buses to Handle Heavy Pilgrim Rush
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will run extra buses on routes connecting Haridwar and other major Kanwar destinations. Officials expect a sharp rise in passenger numbers as the yatra gathers pace.
The transport department has also prepared alternate bus routes to deal with traffic diversions that come into effect during the pilgrimage. Authorities want to ensure regular passengers face minimal inconvenience while Kanwariyas get uninterrupted transport services.
Control Rooms to Monitor Operations
The government has set up dedicated control rooms to monitor bus movement and respond quickly to any operational issues. Senior officials will remain in constant touch with transport depots and field staff throughout the yatra.
These control rooms will coordinate bus services, monitor traffic conditions, and help resolve passenger complaints in real time. They will also work with local administrations wherever route diversions affect transport services.
Focus on Haridwar Routes
Haridwar remains the busiest destination during the Kanwar Yatra. The government has therefore increased transport services on this corridor and instructed officials to maintain regular monitoring.
Traffic restrictions and diversions are expected on several highways during the pilgrimage. The transport department has advised passengers to check route updates before travelling and use designated bus services wherever possible.
State Strengthens Overall Kanwar Yatra Arrangements
Along with transport measures, the Yogi government has strengthened surveillance, emergency response, and crowd management across the state. Authorities have installed cameras, activated monitoring systems, and coordinated with district administrations to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims.
Officials say they will continue reviewing arrangements throughout the yatra and make additional changes if passenger demand increases.
