Concerns have been raised at the SGPGI campus in Lucknow after two incidents: the disappearance of a young woman and claims of hiding identities, exploitation, and pressure to convert to Islam. The police are investigating both cases and plan to take action based on what they find.
Family Searches for Missing 21-Year-Old Woman
The first case falls under the PGI police station area. A resident of the SGPGI residential campus reported that his 21-year-old daughter, Annu, went missing.
A woman went to B-2 Market in Telibagh on May 21, 2026, to look for a job but never came back home. Her family says that CCTV cameras captured her during that day, and investigators are looking at the footage.
The family has made serious claims against a man named Irshad Ali, saying he took their daughter with him. They say he knew the family and often came to their house. The family also reported worries about him before, but they feel the authorities didn’t act on it. They further accused a doctor from SGPGI of helping Irshad, but officials have not confirmed this yet and are still investigating.
According to the family, Irshad Ali visited their home on Raksha Bandhan, had a rakhi tied by the young woman, and gradually became a frequent visitor. They allege that he later harassed her through phone calls, molested her, and created obscene photographs of her. The parents claim that when they objected, he threatened to send the woman to Syria.
Woman Accuses Zubair Ansari and Family
The second case comes from the Para police station area, where a young woman filed an FIR against Zubair Ansari and several members of his family. In her complaint, she alleged that the accused concealed his identity, befriended her, promised marriage, and later established a physical relationship with her.
Allegations of Blackmail and Conversion Pressure
The complainant further alleged that the accused recorded videos and used them to blackmail her while also exploiting her financially.
The FIR also states that the accused pressured her to convert her religion, recite the Kalma, and offer Namaz. She alleged that he assaulted her and threatened to kill her when she resisted. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Officials say they are conducting a fair inquiry into both matters and will take legal action based on the evidence and facts that emerge during the investigation.
