Today (May 15), PM Narendra Modi arrived in Abu Dhabi on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. UAE authorities welcomed him with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Reports said that UAE Air Force F-16 fighter jets escorted the PM’s aircraft as it entered UAE airspace.
Modi thanked the UAE leadership for the warm reception by saying the gesture made every Indian proud. He also said the UAE as his “second home” and praised the strong friendship between the two countries.
Important Agreements Signed
India and the UAE signed multiple agreements during the visit, including an important agreement focused on LPG supply. This will help india to tackle LPG supply in our nations.
The two countries also signed an agreement related to Strategic Petroleum Reserves. The partnership aims to improve energy security and strengthen oil storage systems.
Another agreement focused on strategic defence cooperation. Both sides agreed to increase collaboration in security and technology sharing.
India and the UAE also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a ship repair cluster at Vadinar in Gujarat. Officials believe the project will boost India’s maritime infrastructure and support the government’s “Make in India “initiative.”
A separate agreement on skill development in ship repair and shipbuilding will help train workers and improve India’s maritime workforce.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in supercomputing clusters. Leaders said this partnership could support India’s growing artificial intelligence mission.
Key Meeting With UAE President
PM Modi held bilateral talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed ways to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence and regional security.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, both sides also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, Modi said India stands firmly with the UAE in every situation. He added that India values its partnership with the Gulf nation and wants to expand cooperation across sectors.
The UAE also agreed to invest 5 billion US dollars in India. in infrastructural projects and financial institutions.
Officials said the investment could create jobs and strengthen economic ties between the two nations. The announcement highlights growing confidence in India’s economy and long-term growth potential.
India Supports Peace in West Asia
Prime Minister Modi said India remains ready to support efforts for peace in West Asia. He told the UAE President that India supports dialogue, stability and peaceful solutions in the region.
He stressed that India will continue to work with partners like the UAE to promote regional peace and cooperation.
“Short but Productive Visit”
At the end of the visit, Modi described the trip as “short but productive.” He said discussions with the UAE leadership helped strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the visit would deepen friendship, increase cooperation and create new opportunities for growth and development in both nations.
