Police investigating the violent workers’ protest in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida, on April 13 have made a major claim. According to police, around Rs 1 crore came into the personal bank account of the arrested accused Satyam Verma from foreign countries.

Money Came in Foreign Currency

Police said the money arrived in different foreign currencies such as dollars, pounds, and euros. During the investigation, officers found that Satyam Verma later transferred the money to his other bank accounts.

Police also suspect that the money helped people linked to the protest and supported violent activities during the workers’ movement. Investigation agencies are now checking where and how the money was used.

Many Cases Registered

The workers’ protest turned violent in several industrial areas of Noida. Incidents of arson, vandalism, and chaos took place during the protest. UP Police registered more than 13 cases in different police stations after the violence. Authorities have started strict action against people involved in the unrest.

NSA Imposed on Two Accused

In connection with the violence and the case, the police arrested Satyam Verma and Aakriti Chauhan. During the investigation, police found their role serious and provocative. After this, authorities imposed the National Security Act (NSA) on both accused.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dr Rajeev Narayan Mishra said the investigation revealed several important details. Police are now closely examining bank transactions and financial records linked to the accused.

Investigation agencies also found that Satyam Verma had links with several organizations. Police are now investigating the activities of these groups and their funding network.

Meanwhile, a habeas corpus petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court. The petition challenges the arrest and detention of the accused and calls them illegal.

Police said the investigation is still going on. Officials believe more important facts may come out in the coming days.
