Yogi Cabinet to Meet Today; One District, One Dish Scheme Likely

The cabinet is also expected to approve the “One District, One Dish” scheme. Under this plan, every district in Uttar Pradesh will get a signature food identity.

A high-level cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take place today at 3 pm at the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow. The state government is likely to take up several important decisions that will affect employees, infrastructure projects, industries, and district-level development across the state.

Chief Secretary S. P. Goyal issued the cabinet agenda on Sunday. Around 14 proposals may come up for approval.

The biggest focus of the meeting will remain the transfer policy for government employees for 2026–27. According to the proposal, transfers may continue till May 31. Employees who have completed three years in one district and seven years in one division may come under the transfer process. The government will also continue its policy of keeping no post vacant in aspirational districts.

Another major decision may concern dearness allowance. The state government may approve a 2% increase in DA for employees. Sources indicate that employees may receive the benefit from January this year. If approved, the move will provide financial relief to a large number of state staff.

The cabinet may also address the slowdown in road construction in Uttar Pradesh. The sharp rise in bitumen prices, driven by developments in West Asia, has affected many old road contracts. The government may allow adjustments in old tenders so that contractors can absorb the higher input cost and restart stalled road works.

One District, One Dish Scheme Likely

The cabinet is also expected to approve the “One District, One Dish” scheme. Under this plan, every district in Uttar Pradesh will get a signature food identity. Cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Agra and Mathura may see their traditional dishes promoted under a structured branding plan.

The government wants to link local cuisine with tourism, cultural identity and small business growth. Officials believe the scheme can help local food entrepreneurs and create a stronger district-level cultural brand.

Power, Industry, Education and Culture Also on Agenda

In the energy department, the cabinet may decide compensation rules for farmers whose land gets used for power transmission lines. The state may align these rules with central government norms. A proposal involving a joint venture between Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam and Coal India may also get approval.

The tax department may decide whether the state will reimburse tax on the films Shatak and Godan.

In food and civil supplies, the government may introduce a new licensing policy for the repair of weighing and measuring devices. Technical degree holders may become eligible for licences. The cabinet may also fix new user charges for testing and sealing such equipment.

Other important proposals include a textile park on 251 acres of free land, new compensation rules for losses in mandis, and the opening of Dreams Skill Labs in 150 government schools in partnership with the Tata Group.

The cabinet may also discuss extending the tenure of law clerks and research associates in the Allahabad High Court from two years to three years. A new ordinance for Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is also likely.

A decision on pending payments under the Babina drinking water scheme may also come up.

Today’s cabinet meeting is expected to set the administrative and development tone for the coming months in Uttar Pradesh.
