Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, is hosting a historic diplomatic and economic event this week. From Friday to Sunday (2nd November), representatives and ambassadors from 22 countries — a total of 48 delegates — will gather in the state. For the first time, such a large group of foreign diplomats has arrived together to explore Uttar Pradesh’s potential and assess opportunities for investment. The programme is being coordinated by the state government’s investment promotion agency, Invest UP.
Objective: Attracting Global Investment
The primary objective of this three-day visit is to boost Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Uttar Pradesh. The delegation will study the state government’s industrial policies, investment-friendly initiatives, and newly designed FDI policy. The intent is that these diplomats introduce businesses and investors from their respective countries to the favourable investment environment in UP.
The state government believes that this initiative will help strengthen international business partnerships and further enhance UP’s presence on the global investment map.
Education & Technology: Showcasing Youth Power and Innovation
The foreign representatives will not be limited to cultural tours; they will also evaluate UP’s modern technological and academic capabilities. Their itinerary includes visits to IIM Lucknow, HCL City, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).
Through these visits, they will get a first-hand view of the state’s management expertise, technological ecosystem and skilled human resources. The message is clear: Uttar Pradesh not only offers land and resources for industries but also a trained, globally competitive workforce.
A Glimpse of Culture and Handicraft Heritage
Lucknow’s rich culture and heritage will also be on display. The delegation will tour iconic historical sites such as Bada Imambara and Rumi Darwaza. They will experience the finesse of Lucknow’s famed Chikankari embroidery and savour authentic Awadhi cuisine.
Additionally, they will visit the ODOP (One District One Product) Shilpgram to witness traditional crafts and explore how local products are gaining recognition in global markets.
Strengthening Brand UP on the Global Stage
This event is an effort to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s development model, industrial policies, cultural heritage, and technological strengths on a single platform. The state government hopes that the visit will pave the way for new international partnerships and accelerate foreign investment in the state. Uttar Pradesh is emerging not only as an agrarian state but also as a global hub of investment, technology, and skilled workforce.
