A ₹1‑lakh-rewarded history-sheeter criminal Nafis was killed in an encounter with Kandhla police in the forests of village Bhbhisa of Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday (18 October)morning. He was accused in 34 cases, including loot, Gangster Act, attempt to murder, and fake currency. He was wanted in three serious cases.
SP N.P. Singh stated that the Kandhla police were checking at the Bhbhisa outpost. At that time, two suspicious persons on a bike were signalled to stop by the police, but they fired on the team and fled. The police chased them. In retaliatory firing, one criminal was shot and injured.
Doctors declared him dead when taken to the hospital. His associate escaped from the spot and is being searched by the police. SP said that the killed criminal Nafis was a resident of Mohalla Khel in Kandhla and was a listed history-sheeter of the police station. A bike, a pistol, a country-made gun, and cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Superintendent of Police, Shamli, N.P. Singh informed that during the encounter, Station House Officer Satish Kumar narrowly escaped as a bullet hit his bulletproof jacket. In an effective action by Kandhla police, ₹1‑lakh reward and a history-sheeter criminal Nafis, son of Muda, resident of Mohalla Khail, town and police station Kandhla, district Shamli, was injured during self-defence firing with police. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he died during care.
A total of 34 criminal cases were registered against the accused Nafis, including serious crimes like murder, loot, and attempt to murder. From the spot, one .32 bore pistol, one empty shell, five live cartridges, one .315 bore country-made gun, two empty shells, and one motorcycle were recovered.
