On October 14, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Diwali bonus for state government employees for the financial year 2024–25. This move will benefit over 14.82 lakh employees. The CM stated that the decision is a token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication of government employees. The maximum bonus amount has been set at ₹7,000.
Government Employees to Receive Bonus Before Diwali
While giving this Diwali gift, CM Yogi said that government employees play a vital role in the state’s progress, and the government is committed to their welfare at all levels. The bonus amount will be credited to the accounts of all eligible government employees between Wednesday and Friday, ahead of Diwali.
Finance Department Issues Orders for Bonus Disbursement
According to a statement, on the instructions of CM Yogi, the Finance Department has issued orders approving the bonus for state employees. The bonus will be given based on 30 days’ performance, with a ceiling of ₹7,000 on monthly emoluments. As a result, each eligible employee will receive a benefit of ₹6,908.
Diwali Bonus to Spread Joy Among Families
The Chief Minister expressed that this financial benefit before Diwali will bring joy and enthusiasm to the families of government employees and will infuse new energy into the administration. Approximately 14.82 lakh employees of the state government will benefit from this decision. The total financial burden on the state will be around ₹1,022 crore. Moreover, Employees up to Pay Matrix Level-8 will receive a bonus of up to ₹6,908 based on 30 days’ salary.

In a post from the official X account of the UP CMO, it was stated:
“On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant gift for state employees by declaring a bonus for the financial year 2024–25. Around 14.82 lakh employees of the UP government will benefit from this decision, with a total cost of ₹1,022 crore. He has directed that the payment of bonuses to eligible employees be ensured in a timely manner so that families can celebrate the festival with joy.”

Timely Bonus Disbursal to Enhance Festive Spirit
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to ensure that the bonus is disbursed ideally in the second week of October, ahead of Diwali. This prompt payment is intended to offer employees extra financial relief during the festive season.
Free LPG Refill for Ujjwala Scheme Beneficiaries
Along with the bonus, the UP government is also offering a special Diwali benefit to women enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Around 1.86 crore women will receive one free LPG cylinder refill. While beneficiaries initially pay for the refill, the full amount will later be reimbursed directly into their linked bank accounts, helping reduce household financial burdens during the celebrations.
