In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, during a police operation on Monday (13 October) morning, serial rapist Shahzad alias Nikki, carrying a ₹25,000 bounty, was killed in an encounter. He is the same criminal who recently raped a 7-year-old girl and, on Sunday (12 October) night, went to the victim’s house, threatened to kill her, and opened fire. Just 30 hours after firing at the rape victim’s home, Shahzad was gunned down in the encounter.
SSP Dr Vipin Tada stated that on Monday morning, in the Sarurpur police station area, the police team was conducting vehicle checks when a suspicious man on a bike appeared. When the police signalled him to stop, he tried to flee and began firing. In retaliation, the police returned fire, injuring Shahzad. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The bullet struck him in the chest. This was the seventh police encounter in Uttar Pradesh in 16 days.
SSP’s Statement
SSP Dr Vipin Tada informed that Shahzad, a resident of Bahsuma in Meerut, had seven criminal cases registered against him. He was mainly involved in rape, robbery, murder, and sexual offences. Due to his recent crimes, the police were actively searching for him. Shahzad had a notoriously horrifying criminal record. A few years ago, he raped a 5-year-old girl and was sentenced, but after serving the sentence, he committed the same crime again. In January 2025, his name surfaced in connection with the gang rape of a 6-year-old girl. The incident took place in Bahsuma, where two youths lured the victim with ₹20 and took her to a sugarcane field to assault her. A case was registered against Shahzad, but he remained at large for nine months. In the latest case, he targeted a 7-year-old girl, leaving her in critical condition.
Firing at Midnight
Late Sunday night, Shahzad went to the victim’s house and threatened the family to withdraw the case. He fired shots at the house and warned he would kill the entire family before fleeing. This incident spread fear in the area. Prior to the event, local residents had already circulated Shahzad’s photos on social media, demanding his arrest. Many users wrote that the criminal was roaming freely and should be caught immediately. The police had already placed a ₹25,000 bounty on him.
