Bareilly Violence Live: High Alert Ahead of Friday Prayers… Drone Surveillance, City Divided into Four Zones; Security Forces Deployed

In Bareilly, internet services have been suspended until Saturday (October 4) in view of Friday prayers. The police administration has also issued a high alert today. A total of 8,500 personnel from the police, PAC, and RRF have been deployed, with around 6,000 stationed within the city itself. Drones are being used to scan rooftops. The city has been divided into four super zones and four special zones.

YouTubers from Hajiyapur Among Several Miscreants Identified

Since the days of unrest, half-baked information and rumours have been spread through social media and the internet. Following strict orders from the SSP, the social media cell has begun identifying YouTubers and so-called journalists posting such content. The SSP stated that three YouTubers have been identified so far, two from Hajiyapur and one from Faridpur, and their names may also be included in the FIR.

Action Against Gatherings of Five or More

ADM City Saurabh Dubey said that gatherings of five or more people without a reason will fall under legal action. For issues related to law and order or any other complaints, people may call 0581-2422202 or 0581-2428188.

Rooftops to Be Searched for Stones, 8 Teams to Monitor

After drone footage from last Friday’s (September 26) violence in Bareilly surfaced, the police are on alert. On Friday, the number of drone surveillance teams was increased to eight. These teams will scan rooftops in sensitive areas from the morning. The city has been divided into four super zones, and 225 magistrates have been deployed. The administration has also issued helpline numbers.

Internet Shut Down as Precaution

SSP Anurag Arya stated that security has been tightened in sensitive and mixed-population areas. As there was apprehension of rumours spreading, internet services have been suspended at the government level as a precaution. Misleading posts identified by the social media cell are being acted upon legally. Additionally, police forces and PAC personnel brought in from eight other districts of the Bareilly zone have been stationed here as a preventive measure.

Fear of Fresh Tensions

After internet services were restored two days after the unrest, widespread reactions raised concerns among intelligence agencies about possible renewed tensions. Despite Thursday being a Dussehra holiday, internal preparations continued.
