Uttar Pradesh will soon launch a major recruitment drive to fill around 5,000 vacant posts in various cooperative institutions. The state government has approved the selection of candidates through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) online examination. Following this, the department has directed all concerned institutions to send complete details of vacant positions.
50 District Cooperative Banks Face Major Shortage
Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) JPS Rathore said nearly 2,200 posts are vacant in 50 district cooperative banks alone. Apart from these, several key institutions including Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank, Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Union, UP Labour and Development Cooperative Federation, and State Construction Cooperative Federation also have vacancies. In total, around 5,000 posts are estimated to be vacant across cooperative bodies. However, no vacancies have been reported in other associated institutions as of now.
The cooperation department has asked all institutions to submit vacancy details to the service board. This should be done at the earliest to speed up the recruitment process.
Recruitment of Wage-Based Staff in PACS
Along with permanent staff, about 7,500 daily wage employees will also be recruited in Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). The honorarium for these workers will be provided by PACS, ensuring that the process does not increase the government’s financial burden.
This recruitment plan had received approval two years ago. However, technical delays in conducting IBPS online exams held up the process.
Online Exam to Accelerate Hiring
Chief Secretary Saurabh Babu confirmed that the government has now cleared the online examination route for these appointments. The requisition for the posts will soon be sent to IBPS. This step will allow timely selection of qualified candidates, enhancing the efficiency of cooperative institutions.
The government believes that these hirings will both strengthen state cooperative bodies and help revive and modernise the cooperative sector. The initiative is expected to give a fresh momentum to cooperative growth in Uttar Pradesh.
