Ahead of the 2027 UP Assembly elections, the Yogi Adityanath-led government is preparing a large-scale recruitment push in 2026. The state plans to provide government jobs to nearly two lakh youths, including recruitments announced in 2025 and those expected in the coming months.
Focus on Youth After 2024 Lessons
Significantly, the move comes after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where unemployment emerged as a key political issue. Therefore, the government is now aiming to re-engage young voters well before the next Assembly polls. Opposition attacks over joblessness and question paper leaks had earlier dented the BJP’s outreach among youths.
Recruitments Through Key Commissions
To begin with, the government has initiated steps to issue fresh recruitment advertisements through major bodies. These include the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC), UP Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), UP Education Service Selection Commission, and the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Meanwhile, the highest number of vacancies are expected in the police and education departments.
CM Chairs High-Level Review Meeting
Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting on recruitment. During the review, all departments were directed to send requisitions for vacant posts to the concerned commissions. As a result, preliminary assessments indicate that advertisements for nearly 1.5 lakh new posts will be issued soon. Additionally, more than 20,000 pending recruitments are set to be completed.
Government Highlights Job Creation Record
According to the state government, around 8.5 lakh youths have been given government jobs in the last eight and a half years. Now, the administration claims that another 1.5 lakh jobs will be provided over the next 15 months. Consequently, the government aims to reach the milestone of 10 lakh government jobs in 10 years, which it says is unprecedented in the state’s history.
Police and Education Lead Hiring Numbers
Notably, the government claims that the police and education sectors alone account for about 2.19 lakh recruitments during the Yogi administration. Hence, these two departments remain central to the upcoming hiring drive as well.

Deadline Set for Clearing Pending Recruitments
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is personally reviewing the functioning of all major recruitment commissions. The government’s stated goal is to complete all pending recruitments by June 2026. Simultaneously, efforts are being madeto speed up application and examination processes so that a clear message reaches job aspirants.
More Jobs Possible After Panchayat Polls
Sources suggest that the government may consider additional recruitments in some departments after reviewing the 2026 panchayat election results and the political environment. Therefore, further hiring announcements cannot be ruled out as the Assembly election approaches.
Overall, the recruitment push appears both administrative and political, as the Yogi government seeks to counter unemployment concerns while consolidating youth support ahead of the 2027 polls.
