UP to Fill Over 1,700 Assistant Teacher Posts; Online Applications Open December 15–20 Following Supreme Court Directive

This decision has been taken in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order dated January 29, 2025, which directed the appointment of all candidates who scored above the minimum cutoff and had filed petitions in the High Court or the Supreme Court before December 31, 2019.

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council has accelerated the selection process to fill over 1,700 vacant posts out of the 29,334 assistant teacher positions for Science and Mathematics in upper primary schools
.
Council Secretary Surendra Kumar Tiwari announced that online applications will be accepted from December 15 to December 20.

This decision has been taken in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order dated January 29, 2025, which directed the appointment of all candidates who scored above the minimum cutoff and had filed petitions in the High Court or the Supreme Court before December 31, 2019. A total of 2,593 such candidates have been asked to submit the required information in a prescribed online format.

Earlier, on October 30, a list of 2,048 petitioners was released. Candidates whose petitions were valid but whose names were missing from the list were asked to submit online representations with supporting documents. Following this, 545 additional names were included.

Based on the applications received, a state-level merit list will be prepared. District allotment will be done according to available vacancies, after which appointment letters will be issued.

Selected candidates must join their allotted schools by December 30, while document verification will be completed by January 31, 2026.
