On Friday (October 3), a review meeting of the PM Mitra Mega Textile and Apparel Park (PM Mitra Park) scheme was held in Lucknow under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal. In the meeting, it was informed that investment proposals worth ₹5,120 crore have so far been received from investors. Under this project, MoUs have been signed with 95 industrial units and the total land demand has reached 567 acres.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to speed up work on all stages of the project and create a favourable environment for investors. PM Mitra Park will play a vital role in the state’s economic progress, which will not only increase local employment opportunities but also strengthen the country’s textile exports.
Employment opportunities for lakhs
The meeting was informed that this important project is being developed on 1,000 acres of land in Uttar Pradesh, including 730 acres in Lucknow and 270 acres in Hardoi. After completion, the project may attract investments of over ₹10,000 crore and generate direct and indirect employment for more than one lakh people. For project management, a special purpose vehicle named ‘PM Mitra Park Uttar Pradesh Limited’ has been formed, in which the state government will hold 51% stake and the central government 49%.

Officials informed us that a pre-bid meeting was organised for January 7. In addition, the Ministry of Textiles was presented on June 2 with tender documents, a detailed project report, a financial model, and legal confirmation for approval of the Public-Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC). The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Planning Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary Handlooms Anil Kumar Sagar, Principal Secretary PWD Ajay Chauhan, Lucknow District Magistrate Visakh G., along with other senior officials.
